Exhibition design proposal for the Museu de les Arts Escèniques (MAE)
Developed as a collaborative university project (Barcelona)
About the project:
Exhibition design proposal for the Museu de les Arts Escèniques (MAE), created as a collaborative university project. Developed around the recently donated wardrobe of renowned soprano Victoria de los Ángeles, the exhibition explores the relationship between the public figure and the person behind the stage, transforming archival material into an immersive spatial experience.
Concept:
The exhibition focuses on the space between performance and reality. Inspired by the intimacy of a dressing room, the proposal invites visitors to discover what remains hidden behind the applause: the preparation, the vulnerability and the traces of performer’s life. Through the dialogue between front and back, costume and body, the exhibition reveals the invisible process behind the public image.
Proposal:
The exhibition was conceived as a journey that gradually unfolds the story of Victoria de los Ángeles. Beginning with an installation that sparks curiosity, visitors are guided into a space where silhouettes, personal objects and archival garments recreate the atmosphere of her dressing room. Rather than presenting the collection as static objects, the design encourages an intimate encounter with both the artist and the
person behind the voice.
