Costume design for the Text Theatre Department's final production
Institut del Teatre (Barcelona)

About the project:

Die Große Marsch by Wolfram Lotz is a contemporary play that challenges conventional theatrical storytelling through fragmented narratives and constantly shifting perspectives. The costume proposal was developed for the Theatre Text Department’s final production at Institut del Teatre, responding to the play’s
unconventional structure with a flexible visual language.

Concept:

The costume design explores the contrast between individuality and collectivity. Inspired by everyday clothing from the 1970s and 1980s, the proposal combines familiar silhouettes with subtle distortions, creating characters that feel both recognisable and slightly displaced. Rather than defining fixed identities, the costumes support the play’s fluid and constantly changing nature.

Proposal:

The wardrobe was conceived as a versatile collection of garments that could be recombined throughout the performance. Denim, knitted fabrics and muted earth tones create a grounded visual palette, while carefully selected colour accents  introduce rhythm and variation across the ensemble. The proposal prioritises movement, adaptability and visual cohesion, allowing the costumes to respond to the play’s fragmented dramatic structure.
